Anniversary Celebration August 2022
In August, we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a delicious lunch at the Hove Club.
We heard about the history and origins of Hove WI and looked at photographs spanning the decades. We played a quiz, supported the raffle, and enjoyed the skills of a conjurer!
We had a wonderful time, and many thanks to the committee for organising the event.

Undercliff walk
Nine members of Hove WI and Henry, the dog, enjoyed a bracing walk from Brighton Marina to Rottingdean.
The weather was perfect we all enjoyed a chat as we walked and then a welcome cup of tea on arrival.
Many thanks to Cathy for organising the walk.

Visit to Parham House 2022
In September 2022 Hove WI enjoyed a visit to the Parham estate, a glorious House and Gardens in mid-Sussex. We were given an extremely interesting tour of the House, and then we were free to roam the gardens taking our time to admire the late autumn borders, the orchards, and the kitchen gardens. Our lunch was served in the large refectory (full of interesting kitchen memorabilia) and then many of us had time to visit the souvenir shop.
The weather was kind to us, and we had a wonderful day.
Many thanks to Cathy Harrison for organising the trip.

Chichester Canal Trip June 2019
The weather was perfect for a leisurely trip on the Chichester Canal. As the waves lapped gently against the boat, members enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the wildlife including swans and their cygnets, and a heron.
At the end of the trip on the canal many members spent a little time browsing in the shops in Chichester before catching the train home.

Visit to Recycling Facility March 2019
Many members of Hove WI are interested in environmental issues and so there was keen interest in a visit to the Veolia Recycling Centre in Hollingdean in Brighton. Dressed in hard hats, and high viz jackets (not our usual style) we began the morning with a short informative video. Steve, our guide, then answered our questions about landfill, plastic packaging, waste management and recycling. This was followed by a tour of the facility with Steve and Ana, the tour organiser, on hand to provide commentary and answer questions. It was a fascinating visit and we left with a good feeling about the efforts that are being made to “utilise” our rubbish.
Tea at The Ivy February 2019
Many Hove WI members enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea and so we were keen to try out The Ivy when a visit was proposed.
In the elegant surroundings we all enjoyed tea, delicious scones, cream, jam and cakes. A return visit has already been suggested!
